Q&A: Can’t we just put this renovation off for a couple years?
Dear Daleview Community,
In addition to an action packed week for Daleview 2.0, we’re continuing to track feedback and questions from our membership and following up with responses. Today’s Q&A focuses on action vs. inaction.
Question: Should we consider postponing the major renovation and instead do another white coat, given the uncertain economic outlook and the financial vulnerability of many members—particularly those tied to federal employment—which could lead to a significant drop in memberships after assessments and new fees are introduced?
Delaying the renovation risks an unexpected pool failure that could shut Daleview down for two or more seasons—or permanently. The pool is 67 years old, well beyond its expected lifespan. Due to its age, the Committee has been advised that there are surely leaks underneath the pool. Any leaks underneath the pool cannot be fixed with a white coat. Acting now lets us manage timing and costs, avoid crisis-driven decisions, and preserve the pool’s future. While some membership loss is expected for a variety of reasons including costs, we’re working to minimize the burden through flexible payment options and alternative funding, and we will continue to explore options through the transition. We wish we could predict what the economic environment will look like in a few years and when the pool will certainly fail, but we can’t, so we have to act proactively.
As a reminder here are some key dates to look out for this week:
1. Financial Presentation, Thursday at 7 pm (Zoom)
2. Daleview 2.0 Vote Window Opens, Friday at Noon
3. Daleview Board Mid-Summer Meeting, Sunday at 4 pm
2. Daleview 2.0 Vote Window Opens, Friday at Noon

As always, you can find videos, images, information, and updates on the renovation website, and the committee welcomes all members to send us an email ([email protected]) with your questions and feedback. We thank you all for your engagement throughout this process.
Our thanks,
Daleview 2.0 Committee and Board
