Swimteam Registration

Swimmers are encouraged to register for the swim team when annual pool membership dues are submitted in the spring, although swimmers may join the Team at any time during the season. At the time pool registration materials are sent to each member household, a Swim Team registration card is also provided for use in registering children for the Team. Parents can sign their children up for the swim team by completing the card and enclosing it with the swim team registration fee when the pool registration materials and membership dues are submitted.

A second opportunity to register is at the first team practice on Labor Day weekend. Swimmers interested in joining the Team for the first time should plan to attend this practice with their parent(s).

Those who miss these opportunities to register may consult the Swim Team Representative, the Coaches, or the Swim Team Committee members to arrange to join the Team.

Children who register for the Swim Team are included on the Team roster, which is prepared at the beginning of the swim season and may be modified throughout the season as new swimmers join. To maximize the swimming and social benefits of team membership, however, it is recommended that interested swimmers join the team at the beginning of the season.

Team Budget

The swim Team is a significant membership benefit for Daleview families with children. However, it is not operated without cost. In addition, the swim team is labor intensive and requires participation and support from swim team families.

The expenses of the swim team, which includes coaches salaries, equipment and supplies, pep rallies, trophies, and MCSL dues are covered from three primary sources:

  • Swim Team Fees - a small assessment that is set annually by the swim team Committee and collected from each swimmer upon registration for the team
  • A subsidy from Daleview Pool.
  • Funds raised by swim team families through typical fund-raising events such as food concessions, FeetGear sales, divisional and league events, and events at the pool.

Cost and Fees

The cost for each swimmer is a combination of a registration fee and a participation assessment totaling $100.00 for the 2008 season. The fees for each swimmer are due upon registration. This Swim Team fee is a small assessment set annually by the Swim Team Committee. It covers less than one-third of the cost of operating the Swim Team.

The team fee for each swimmer ............ $55.00
The participation assessment equals ............ $45.00
Total cost for the 2008 season ............ $100.00

Parents have the opportunity to select from two options of payment for the participation assessment:

Option 1. A per-child cash contribution used to purchase food and drinks for concession sales.

Option 2. A commitment by the swimmers parents to contribute food to the team concession throughout the swim season that equals $45.00 per swimmer.

Parents who choose the latter will be assigned specific foods and/or drinks to bring to home swim meets or other events as the need arises.

The option of contributing money rather than food and/or drinks has been made available in order to accommodate parents who would prefer not to have to bring food to swim meets and other events.

PLEASE NOTE that the Option 2 payment plan will only be accepted before time trials. After time trials, the Option 2 payment plan will not be accepted.

PLEASE NOTE that a late payment fee of an additional $20.00 will be assessed per swimmer if the fees are not paid by the first meet.
